Danville: Citizen robbed during internet sale exchange
DANVILLE – A citizen responding to an online for sale posting was robbed in the Safeway parking lot Wednesday, police said.
According to police chief Allan Shields, Danville officers responded to a report of a robbery in the Safeway parking lot, located at 3496 Camino Tassajara, at 12:14 pm Wednesday.
The suspect met the victim in the parking lot to sell an iWatch that was advertised on an internet for sale posting. The suspect instead threatened force and took the victim’s wallet after the victim refused to purchase the watch, Shields said.
The suspect fled in a gray hatchback Prius with “Mitsubishi Oakland” paper plates and “Lyft” ride-sharing service sticker in the front window.
The suspect is described as an adult black male approximately 20 years old, 6’00” tall, wearing a white hoody with gold writing, according to police.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant Ron Hoekwater at 925-314-3703 or email at rhoekwater@danville.ca.gov.
Police have provided photos of the suspect vehicle.
Last May, Danville Police rolled out an “Exchange Zone” for safer transactions. It is located in the parking lot of the Danville Town Offices.
