Arsonist arrested again in Blackhawk after setting fire to “keep warm”
BLACKHAWK – A suspect who was previously arrested for setting a fire on a hill in east Danville was arrested again this month after he allegedly set a fire near the Blackhawk Plaza.
In the evening of September 16th, firefighters and deputies responded to a citizen’s report of a subject seen lighting a fire in an area of vegetation located north of Blackhawk Plaza adjacent to the Silver Maple neighborhood.
According to Interim Fire Marshall Stephen Healy, responding firefighters located an extinguished 1-foot by 1-foot spot fire near several homes.
Deputies responding to the scene located the suspect near the reported location. He was identified as a 30-year-old male transient. He was arrested for arson (452 pc) and is still in custody, according to detention records.
The transient was previously arrested in August for starting a 5-acre grass fire on an east Danville hilltop, less than a mile away from this most recent fire.
