Blackhawk Man Arrested for Assaulting and Threatening His Uber Driver
BLACKHAWK – An intoxicated Blackhawk man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly assaulting and threatening his Uber driver.
According to Contra Costa Sheriff’s Spokesperson Jimmy Lee, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of a battery at the west gate of Blackhawk on Blackhawk Road at around 11:00 pm Wednesday night.
The Deputy arrived and contacted the alleged suspect and the victim, who was working as a driver for the popular ride sharing application “Uber.”
The victim reported that he was driving the suspect to his home in Blackhawk when he apparently became upset with his driving and began to threaten and physically assault the driver, Lee said.
The driver declined medical attention at the scene.
Initial reports also said a security guard for the community helped the Uber driver escape his vehicle as the driver was being assaulted by the intoxicated man.
Lee said the suspect, identified as a 53-year-old from Blackhawk, was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of criminal threats and battery.
He was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and has since bailed out.
