Blackhawk Museum scraps monthly Cars and Coffee event
BLACKHAWK – The Blackhawk Museum’s monthly Cars and Coffee event is canceled after several years of hosting the event, according to a social media post.
The event took place in the Blackhawk Plaza parking lot, every first Sunday of the month. According to an Instagram statement posted on the Museum’s cars and coffee account last month, the event has come to an end.
The statement reads:
“We have made the difficult decision to end Cars & Coffee as of now. We love the spirit of the event and the opportunity it has provided for the Museum and its volunteers to interact with the local automotive community, but the event has grown beyond our ability to actively monitor without volunteers and staff.
The hazards caused by congestion within the Plaza, noise complaints from the surrounding residential area, and concerns of local law enforcement cannot be ignored.
I want to thank everyone that has been a part of the Cars and Coffee over the years. We have several new ideas in the pipeline at Blackhawk Museum and hope that you will all join us in our future endeavors.”
The post attracted comments expressing disappointment about the decision, “This event probably attracted a lot of people to our small businesses in the community. It’s unfortunate, it was great while it lasted,” one Instagram user wrote.
The Museum could not be reached for further comment. A new executive director for the Museum had recently been appointed, according to an online post.
