Citizen injured, suspect arrested after Danville Blvd police chase
DANVILLE – A driver was arrested for several felonies after a rollover collision near the end of a vehicle pursuit Thursday morning.
According to Danville Police Chief Allan Shields, the incident began around 10:36 am when officers were notified that suspects in a black Lexus had committed thefts from vehicles in San Ramon.
Officers spotted the Lexus at 10:42 am near the intersection of Danville Boulevard and El Portal before the vehicle fled north on Danville Boulevard. Officers initiated a pursuit but called off the chase as the vehicle entered Alamo.
Moments later, officers located a vehicle collision on Danville Boulevard. It was determined the suspect vehicle had collided with two other vehicles driving on Danville Boulevard before landing on its roof.
Two suspects in the vehicle were detained with the assistance of deputies from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. The suspects are identified as Michael Gutierrez, 36, of Union City and Carolina McDaniel, 31, of Hayward.
Gutierrez was arrested for felony evading with a vehicle, felony hit and run, and felony probation violation. He was injured in the accident and will be booked into the Martinez Detention Facility following treatment. McDaniel was released to the San Ramon Police Department.
The driver of a civilian vehicle was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
