Danville Costco Employees Tackle Robbery Suspect
DANVILLE – Police say employees tackled a robbery suspect after a masked man used a hammer to smash a jewelry display case inside Costco Monday evening.
According to Police Chief Steve Simpkins, at approximately 8:55 p.m. three suspects entered the Costco, located on Fostoria Way. Simpkins said one of the suspects, wearing a ski mask, walked to a glass display case, broke the glass with a hammer, and took items from the case.
Store employees confronted the trio, tackling one and holding him on the ground. The suspect with the ski mask ran into the parking lot and got into a vehicle and fled. The third fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect detained by employees, identified as Kesean Edwards, 21, of Oakland, was taken into custody by Danville Police officers. Edwards was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and booked on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary.
