Danville: Man Arrested For Shooting At Vehicle Near Church Parking Lot
DANVILLE – Police arrested a Danville man after he allegedly discharged a firearm on Sherburne Hills Road, striking a victim’s vehicle.
According to Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins, officers were called to the East Bay Foursquare Church in Danville (located at 2615 Camino Tassajara) 7:23 pm Wednesday night after someone reported they had been shot at.
Responding officers determined the victim’s vehicle had been struck by a bullet. After a check of the building, police located a single suspect who was taken into custody.
A preliminary investigation of the incident revealed the discharge of the firearm appeared to be accidental, Simpkins said.
Authorities arrested 34-year-old Danville resident Benjamin Ericson for possession of an illegal weapon and possession of high capacity magazines.
He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and is currently out on bail.
Police say no injuries were reported in the incident.
