Child Airlifted After Suffering a Head Injury
Paramedics were called to a residence in the Shadow Creek neighborhood in Danville at approximately 4 p.m. after they received a call that a three year old child had suffered a head injury.
During their response, the child became unconscious, prompting the fire department to dispatch an air ambulance to transport the child to Children’s Hospital in Oakland. The on-duty battalion chief also arranged for the ambulance to receive a CHP escort to Oakland, should the helicopter not be able to respond.
Almost 45 minutes later, a helicopter touched down at Diablo Vista Middle School, the established landing zone, where the patient was loaded and transported to the hospital.
According to a parent of the patient, the child is doing well and “will likely come home tonight.”
