Driver airlifted after solo vehicle accident on Camino Tassajara in Danville
DANVILLE – A driver was airlifted to a local hospital after the vehicle he was driving hit a utility box before coming to rest in front of a sound wall adjacent to Camino Tassajara.
At approximately 3:25 pm Friday afternoon, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District received a call from a child (not involved in the accident) reporting that a vehicle had rolled and exited the roadway. Shortly after, the California Highway Patrol received a report from OnStar reporting a vehicle accident on Camino Tassajara near Creekview Drive.
Firefighters arrived and found the vehicle crashed off Camino Tassajara with the driver still inside. Paramedics extracted the driver and transported him to Tassajara Hills School, where an air ambulance transported him to a local hospital.
CHP originally received a report from OnStar that the victim had sustained head and arm injuries in the accident.
Eastbound Camino Tassajara was closed for a few hours at Creekview Drive until around 7:00 pm, when one lane was opened while PG&E worked at the scene. About 200 residents near the accident scene are without power as of 6:00 pm.
