Woman Suffers Burns to her Face in San Ramon House Fire

An elderly woman was airlifted after firefighters found her at the scene of a house fire with burns to her face.

According to San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Chief Paige Meyer, firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence on Ladera Courte in San Ramon at approximately 11:50 a.m. Friday morning.

Upon arrival, firefighters began aggressively attacking the fire and located an elderly female patient with burns to her head and face area. She was treated and flown to Santa Clara Medical Center with moderate to severe burns. Meyer says that the woman may have been attempting to extinguish the fire when she was burned.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a single unit of the duplex as the fire spread from the outside to the inside of the residence.

The blaze caused approximately $200,000 in damage and is still under investigation. However, fire officials have concluded that the fire started from the exterior of the structure.

The status of the elderly woman who suffered burns to her face is still unknown. There were no other reported injuries.
