Fairfield woman arrested for Alamo bank robbery
ALAMO – Deputies have arrested a woman accused of robbing multiple banks in the central contra costa area this week.
According to a Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, deputies were dispatched to a robbery at the Union Bank on Danville Blvd in Alamo at around 11 am Tuesday morning. A female suspect reportedly fled with cash after threatening the bank teller.
During an investigation, the suspect was identified as Chelsea Michelle Smith, 37, of Fairfield. Deputies notified the Fairfield Police Department, who detained her until detectives arrived to take her into custody.
Smith was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for first degree robbery and was held on $100,000 bail. She has since bailed out.
Investigators believe Smith is responsible for two other Tuesday robberies that occurred in Pleasant Hill and Martinez.
