Fentanyl located at San Ramon Police Department, prompting HAZMAT response
SAN RAMON – Fentanyl was located at the San Ramon Police Department Thursday morning, prompting a hazardous materials response.
At 9:20 am Thursday morning, the San Ramon Valley Fire Department hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response team responded to a report that two officers had been exposed to fentanyl inside the San Ramon Police Department.
According to San Ramon Police Lieutenant Nate Jones, the fentanyl was located on a suspect who was in custody inside the police department. The suspect, Brandin Kumro, a 30-year-old from San Ramon, had originally been arrested for shoplifting and possession of burglary tools before they were transported to the San Ramon Police Department.
Kumro was arrested for an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance and was subsequently cite-released on a notice to appear in court.
HAZMAT crews evacuated the area before the area was rendered safe early Thursday afternoon.
