Firefighters Battling 30 Acre Blaze in Collier Canyon
TASSAJARA – Firefighters are at the scene of a 30 acre grass fire in Collier Canyon, 4 miles east of San Ramon.
At around 2:50pm Monday, Firefighters received several reports of a fire near Highland Road at Collier Canyon Road.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and located a 30 acre blaze burning in several locations near Collier Canyon. Resources from Cal Fire, Contra Costa Fire and Alameda County Fire were immediately requested. Cal Fire aircraft arrived at the scene soon after to begin water drops.
Responders also identified a low-hanging power line on Collier Canyon Road before PG&E responded to turn off power in the area. It’s unknown if the utility line is related to the fire.
Deputies conducted road closures in the area before CHP arrived approximately an hour later.
The cause if the fire is still unknown.
