Pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle near the Iron Horse Trail in San Ramon
SAN RAMON – Police are investigating a fatal collision on Crow Canyon Road near the Iron Horse Trail that occurred Tuesday morning.
At 6:49 am Tuesday, police responded to the area of Crow Canyon Road and the Iron Horse trail for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers administered life-saving measures to the pedestrian, who was later pronounced deceased at San Ramon Regional Medical Center, according to police.
Authorities say the victim is only identified as a man from Walnut Creek.
The victim appeared to be jogging southbound on the Iron Horse Trail when the involved vehicle struck him in the rightmost lane of eastbound Crow Canyon Road. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor, according to authorities.
Eastbound lanes were closed for several hours while police investigated the collision.
