Police investigating possible drowning in Marketplace fountain

SAN RAMON – Police are investigating an incident in which a subject was found unresponsive in a fountain at the Marketplace Shopping Center Friday night.

At around 9:30 pm Friday, paramedics responded to a report that bystanders located an unconscious subject inside a fountain and were in the process of removing him. A dispatcher then assisted the caller in beginning CPR.

Moments later, multiple San Ramon Police officers arrived at the scene and took over CPR. Paramedics also arrived soon after and began resuscitation attempts.

The subject was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at a fountain between Cold Stone and Pho Monsoon businesses in the shopping center.

According to initial witness reports, the victim may have struck his head while falling into the fountain.
