Police Searching For Suspect Who Kicked Whole Foods Employee
SAN RAMON – Police are searching for a man who allegedly kicked a San Ramon Whole Foods loss prevention officer during an altercation at the store last Thursday.
Police say the confrontation took place on September 1st, 2016 when employees confronted a man who they believed was attempting to steal items from the store.
When confronted, the man fought with and ultimately kicked one of the employees. Police initially received a call from a concerned citizen who witnessed the fight between the employee and suspect outside of the store.
The man, described as a white male in his 50s, fled on foot away from the business. Despite a search involving a police canine, the man was not located.
Police say the suspect was attempting to steal miscellaneous food items and a teapot from the store when he was confronted. The teapot broke during the struggle with employees, leaving Whole Foods with one less teapot in their inventory.
According to police, the case is technically classified as an “Estes” robbery because of the suspects struggle with law enforcement. A shoplift becomes an “Estes” robbery when a suspect begins fighting with loss prevention officers.
Police have provided a rough picture of the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact San Ramon Detective Pistello at 925-973-2781.
