Police seek witness in Sunday pipe bomb explosion
Danville – Police believe a small pipe bomb was the cause of an explosion in a Diablo Road parking lot Sunday. They are encouraging potential witnesses to contact authorities.
On Wednesday, Police Chief Allan Shields said investigators believe the device that caused minor damage to two vehicles in the Smart and Final parking lot was a small pipe bomb. Shields said investigators are looking to speak with a possible witness to the explosion (pictured).
The witness is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” – 6’0” tall, around 240 – 250 pounds, driving a white sedan. Police say the vehicle could be a Jaguar X-type car.
Police are still investigating the explosion, which occurred in the Smart and Final parking lot on Diablo Road (see original story). The fire department was not dispatched to the scene following the explosion and no injuries were reported.
