15-Year-Old from San Ramon Leads Police on Pursuit, Crash and Foot Chase
SAN RAMON – A juvenile from San Ramon is behind bars after leading police on a chase through San Ramon surface streets Wednesday morning.
According to police, a San Ramon Police Officer was alerted by a vehicle-mounted Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system of a stolen vehicle nearby, just after midnight Wednesday morning.
Dispatchers notified the officer the vehicle was reported stolen in Hercules on April 22nd.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it continued northbound on San Ramon Valley Blvd, and a pursuit was initiated.
Police say the suspect ran red lights and stop signs before the chase came to an end when the driver ran into a curb, popping the vehicle’s tires.
The suspect attempted to flee officers on foot at the scene of the crash (100 block of Deerwood Drive) but he was apprehended a few moments later.
The suspect, a 15-year-old from San Ramon, transported to the hospital before being placed under arrest and booked into juvenile hall.
Police say he is charged with vehicle theft, attempting to evade the police, possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest.
