At around 5:30 am, paramedics with the East Contra Costa County Fire District were dispatched to a solo motorcycle collision on Deer Valley Road near Chadbourne Road, according to authorities.
Paramedics arrived and located the officer at the base of a utility pole several feet from the roadway. The officer was evaluated and airlifted to a local trauma center by a REACH medical helicopter.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. East County Today reported the officer sustained moderate injuries after being thrown from the vehicle.
Later Thursday morning, San Ramon Police tweeted the officer was “doing well and in good spirits.”
The officer originally used his radio to call San Ramon dispatch and report he had been involved in a collision, was conscious after being knocked out and was attempting to figure out his location, but was disoriented and not visible from the roadway.
