Student dies after drowning in San Ramon Valley High School pool
DANVILLE – Police are investigating the death of a 15-year old San Ramon Valley High School student that occurred early Tuesday afternoon.
Danville Police Chief Allan Shields said at approximately 1:51 p.m. police were dispatched to the swimming pool at the high school. When officers arrived, they learned that a staff member had found the student in the pool, retrieved him from the water, and applied lifesaving measures.
Paramedics transported the juvenile to Kaiser Hospital, Walnut Creek, where he was later pronounced dead.
Danville Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
The school was briefly placed in lockdown while the student was being treated.
