Shots Fired During Friday Afternoon Robbery at Danville Costco
DANVILLE – Police are investigating a robbery at Costco in which multiple witnesses observed masked suspects fire shots inside and outside the business.
At around 12:15 pm Friday afternoon, police were dispatched to a report of a possible robbery with shots fired at the Costco on Fostoria Way in Danville.
According to Danville Police Cheif Steve Simpkins, two suspects wearing masks and hoodies entered the store. One of the suspects went to a glass case, smashed it with a hammer, and grabbed items.
An employee attempted to intervene and the second suspect fired a weapon, Simpkins said. The employee retreated and the suspects fled into a waiting newer silver Toyota Camry with paper license plates.
A third suspect, described by witnesses as a white or hispanic male, drove off in the Camry. While the suspects were fleeing the parking lot, they fired a second shot into the air.
The two suspects who entered the store are described as male, 5’9” – 6’ tall, slender build. Suspect one was wearing a black hoodie, gray pants, gloves and a mask. Suspect two was wearing black hoodie, black pants, gloves and a mask.
Paramedics were also called to aid a bystander that fell while attempting to avoid the suspects and subsequently went into shock.
Police announced the Costco location was closed as authorities processed the crime scene, but the business re-opened around 2:45 pm.
The same Costco location was also robbed earlier this month when masked suspects used a hammer to smash a display case, read about that incident.
