Suspect arrested after downtown rooftop chase
DANVILLE – A Dublin man was arrested Friday after attempting to flee from officers during a stolen vehicle investigation.
At approximately 8:27 am on Friday, Jan 3, the officers were notified via an automated license plate reader of a stolen vehicle in the downtown area.
Within moments, officers located the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station on Hartz Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle, who officers later identified as Sidney Clifford Hill (34), of Dublin attempted to flee. Hill abandoned the car after a short distance and fled on foot.
Officers gave chase until they surrounded Hill on the roof of a business on E. Prospect Ave. He was placed in custody shortly after.
Hill was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for possession of a stolen car, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, and probation violation. Hill was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on a burglary charge.
