Suspect Takes Employee Hostage During San Ramon Bank Robbery, Then Flees
SAN RAMON – Police are investigating a bank robbery at US Bank in which a lone suspect ordered an employee to accompany him as he fled the building.
Just before noon Monday afternoon, San Ramon Police say they were dispatched to a report of a bank robbery at the US Bank located on the 2800 block of Crow Canyon Road.
During the robbery, authorities say the suspect used a revolver to demand money from multiple bank tellers inside the bank, saying he wanted large bills.
Before leaving the bank, the suspect directed a female employee to accompany him out of the building, police say.
The suspect walked with the hostage for approximately 150 yards into a residential area near Twin Creeks Drive before directing her to return to the bank.
Officers arrived at the bank and used a canine in an attempt to search for the suspect. The female hostage was uninjured during the incident.
The suspect was described as a white male adult, around 40 to 45 years old, with gray colored facial hair. Police say he was wearing a dark colored pea coat, gray hooded sweatshirt, black beanie, dark colored trousers and dark colored cotton or wool gloves. He has not yet been located.
