Theft victim dragged by vehicle in Alamo Plaza Shopping Center
ALAMO – Authorities are seeking suspect information after a man was reportedly dragged by a vehicle during a laptop theft in the Alamo Plaza Shopping Center.
According to Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jimmy Lee, at 5:52 pm on Friday July 13, 2018, deputies were dispatched to the Alamo Plaza Shopping Center on Danville Boulevard for a suspicious circumstance. A citizen reported that a man was dragged by a moving vehicle.
Deputies arrived and contacted the victim, Lee said. An initial investigation revealed he had met with an unknown person via the “Let Go” app to sell a laptop computer.
During the meeting, the potential buyer grabbed the laptop from the victim and ran to a waiting vehicle in the parking lot. The victim gave chase and a struggle ensued for the laptop at which time the driver of the vehicle accelerated causing the victim to fall to the ground. The suspect vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Deputies searched the area but did not locate the suspect or suspect vehicle. The victim was treated by paramedics for minor injuries at the scene.
