VIDEO: Helicopter hoists injured equestrian from Mt. Diablo State Park
MT DIABLO SP – A CHP helicopter helped paramedics transport an equestrian after she was thrown from a horse in Mt. Diablo State Park.
At around 12:00 pm Wednesday afternoon, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District was notified that a victim had fallen from a horse in the State Park, north of Macedo Ranch.
Rescuers gathered GPS coordinates from the caller and located the patient on the Dusty Road Trail near Wall Point Road, south of North Gate Road.
First responders requested that a CHP helicopter respond to extricate the patient from the scene to a nearby road. A CHP helicopter arrived and hovered over at 75 feet above the patient, lowered a paramedic to the ground and hoisted the patient into the helicopter.
“Once in the helicopter, the female was flown approximately 2 miles to a waiting San Ramon Valley Fire Ambulance,” according to CHP. The patient was transported via ambulance from the Macedo Ranch staging area to a local hospital with “minor to moderate injuries.”
